• In 1955, Archbishop Thomas P. Molloy asked Rev. Francis P. McLoone to establish a new parish in Massapequa Park. At the request of Fr. McLoone, its first Pastor, the parish was placed under the patronage of Our Lady of Lourdes and was officially founded on October 13, 1955.

  • Though a six-acre site, the parish initially consisted of a rectory, converted from a farmhouse, and a barn, which through the industriousness of parishioners, became a chapel.

  • In 1957, Most Rev. Walter P. Kellenberg, directed Fr. McLoone to alter his building plans to include a school and convent as well as auditorium facilities.

  • Rev. Christopher Fagan was appointed the second Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes on June 24, 1961. Four months later, ground was broken for a 24-classroom school, auditorium, convent, and chapel, with the school opening on September 10, 1962.

  • In October 1976, Rev. Robert E. Mason was named the Parish’s third Pastor.

  • Bishop John McGann dedicated the new Church building on May 5, 1985.

  • In June 2008, Msgr. James P. Lisante became the fourth and current Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
